On Living in a Kakistocracy

Four words for our American moment:

Autocracy

Kleptocracy

Oligarchy

Kakistocracy

The last, kakistocracy, may be the least familiar— although a family member told me about seeing it on a bumper sticker. It means government by the least suitable and/or least competent members of a state.

To be fair, the Trump presidency and its enablers have their competencies.  A partial list:

Sniggering

Bragging

Lying

Pillaging

Threatening

Looking slick on the media

Rolling in dough

Delighting in power and cowering before the Big Guy

Stiffing laws and the Constitution

I invite others to extend this list, with slang that might be more up-to-date.
