I would rather write about points of light than points of contempt, but looking at the spectacle of Trump-Musk insults, I must never forget the damage both have done to democracy. I must also remember Trump’s comparison of Ukraine and Russia in the Ukrainian war to two kids in a playground, “let them rumble.” How contemptible a dismissal of Ukraine’s existential fight for autonomy and democracy. How contemptible to compare dead men, women, and children to kids in a playground. How callous is this man who thinks of himself as a peacemaker.
